Provence is a lavender candle that opens with lemon verbena and French lavender, moves through soft herbal notes and settles into a cade wood base. Bright and aromatic at the start, warm and grounding by the end. A calming lavender candle built for rooms where you want the air to feel quieter than the rest of the house.
Hand-poured in Melbourne, 300g natural soy wax, FSC certified wood wick. The relaxing candle in the Santorini collection for slow evenings and rooms that face the end of the day.
About Provence
Lavender candles are easy to get wrong in two directions. Too sweet and they tip into soap. Too herbal and they read as medicinal. Provence sits between both.
Lemon verbena opens it, bright and citrus-herbal, with a freshness that gives the lavender room to arrive without announcing itself too early. French lavender follows in the heart, aromatic and soft rather than sharp, the kind of lavender that reads as a field rather than a product. The herbal quality of both notes runs through the burn together, keeping the fragrance honest and grounded rather than sweet.
Cade wood in the base is what gives Provence its character at 300g. Smoky, dry and slightly resinous, it sits underneath the lavender and lemon verbena and gives the whole fragrance somewhere to land. The base is quiet. It does not compete with the lavender. It just holds it, which is what lets a calming lavender candle stay calm through a long burn rather than fading into nothing.
The effect is a room that smells like the south of France on a warm afternoon. Not perfumed. Not synthetic. Just open air, lavender and something woody underneath.
At 300g, the fragrance carries across an open living space, a large bedroom or any room where you want the calm to reach the whole room rather than just the corner the candle sits in. Developed in-house by founders Suji and Jeeva, IFRA certified, cruelty free, poured by hand in Melbourne.
Scent notes
Top: Lemon Verbena, French Lavender Heart: Herbal Base: Cade Wood
Reading the notes
Lemon verbena — bright and citrus-herbal in the opening. It gives Provence its initial freshness and stops the lavender from reading as heavy from the first light.
French lavender — soft and aromatic in the heart, with a natural quality that reads as field lavender rather than fragrance oil. The note that defines the character of this candle through the middle of the burn.
Herbal — the quality that runs through both the lemon verbena and the lavender, keeping the fragrance honest and green rather than sweet or powdery.
Cade wood — smoky, dry and slightly resinous in the base. It grounds the lavender and lemon verbena above it and gives Provence a depth that most lavender candles do not reach.
How to use
Burn Provence for at least two to three hours on the first light. At 300g, the larger ceramic takes time to build a full melt pool, and getting it right on the first burn sets the pattern for every use after that.
Trim the wood wick to around 5mm before each burn. Snap off any charred tip before relighting to keep the flame steady and the crackle consistent.
Keep the candle away from draughts and direct sunlight when burning and when stored.
