Serendipity is a geranium candle that opens with rose geranium and bay leaf, deepens through patchouli and cedarwood and settles into an amber and musk base. Floral and herbal at the start, earthy and warm by the end. A woody floral candle that reads as sophisticated rather than obvious.
Hand-poured in Melbourne, 300g natural soy wax, FSC certified wood wick. The earthy floral candle in the Santorini collection for rooms that need something more interesting than a standard floral.
About Serendipity
Rose geranium is not rose. It shares the name but not the character.
Where rose is warm and classical, rose geranium is greener, slightly herbal and more complex. It has a freshness that keeps the opening of Serendipity from reading as a traditional floral candle, and it is what makes this fragrance harder to place than most. Bay leaf sits alongside it in the opening, adding a dry, slightly spiced herbal quality that reinforces the green edge of the geranium and gives the candle its initial depth.
Patchouli arrives in the heart, grounding the floral and herbal opening with its earthy warmth. In Serendipity, patchouli is not the whole story, it is the note that gives the rose geranium and bay leaf somewhere to land. Cedarwood follows, woody and dry, deepening the earthy quality and pulling the fragrance toward its base.
Amber and musk close it out. Warm, resinous and quiet, they give Serendipity its staying power and the warm intimate quality that makes it work in a room over the course of an evening. The base is what remains long after the candle is out.
This is a sophisticated woody candle that suits people who find most florals too light and most earthy candles too dark. It sits between the two, which is where the most interesting fragrances tend to live. A candle for living rooms, bedrooms and any space where you want the air to feel considered without announcing itself.
Developed in-house by founders Suji and Jeeva, IFRA certified, cruelty free, poured by hand in Melbourne. Part of the Santorini collection.
Scent notes
Top: Rose Geranium, Bay Leaf Heart: Patchouli, Cedarwood Base: Amber, Musk
Reading the notes
Rose geranium — greener and more herbal than rose, with a freshness that gives Serendipity its distinctive opening. The note that stops this from reading as a conventional floral candle and makes it harder to place in the best way.
Bay leaf — dry and slightly spiced in the opening alongside the rose geranium. It reinforces the herbal quality of the top and gives the candle an initial depth that most floral candles do not have.
Patchouli — earthy and grounding in the heart, giving the floral and herbal opening somewhere to settle. In Serendipity, it reads as warm and present rather than dominant.
Cedarwood — woody and dry alongside the patchouli in the heart. It deepens the earthy quality of the fragrance and bridges the herbal top with the warm amber base.
Amber — warm and resinous in the base. It anchors the rose geranium and patchouli above it and gives the candle a depth that holds through a long burn in a large room.
Musk — soft alongside the amber in the base. It extends the fragrance beyond the burn and gives Serendipity the warm, intimate quality that stays in the room after the candle is out.
How to use
Burn Serendipity for at least two to three hours on the first light. At 300g, the larger ceramic takes time to build a full melt pool, and getting it right on the first burn sets the pattern for every use after that.
Trim the wood wick to around 5mm before each burn. Snap off any charred tip before relighting to keep the flame height steady and the crackle consistent.
Keep the candle away from draughts and direct sunlight when burning and when stored.
